I'm with Ron, i don't understand how people don't have a tidy house in Skyrim. I can't stand having my crap on the floor. In Morrowind, however yeah all my armor sets were all over the floor but Skyrim, no way. Multiple houses, specific armor sets on mannequins, chests and drawers in every room.... Hell now I'm in the mood to boot up Skyrim for the first time in months and you know what I'm going to do? Organize more! If the games a person enjoys are a personal fantasy, evidently mine involves buying property and organizing my stuff.

I don't think BioWare is done with the Mass Effect franchise. I'm sure they have more games planned set in the ME universe. The big question will be if the new games will have Shepard or not--I don't want another trilogy with Shepard; someone new would be great.

BioWare needs to be as transparent as possible now. By telling us as much as possible directly and honestly will be the best way for them to deal with this situation and put it behind them.

Oh, man. This was so great! I'm totally buying into the Indoctrination theory. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ythY_GkEBck) Or else, maybe I'm just easily indoctrinated. :P In reality, I'm more upset over the gay love scene than the ending of ME3. I romanced Cortez with male Shep (since Kaidan, while flirty, didn't do anything else), and only got a kiss and then them waking up together after Shep's final nightmare. WTF?! I ruined my character's canon for nothing? Awful.

Right when I saw Chobot's character, I nearly died. So gross. I listen to your podcast at work, and when you started describing her lumpy, droopy body, I did a spit take of coffee into the top of my travel mug. It sprayed all over my face and glasses, but luckily not on my computer. HILARIOUS!

Also, I wanted to know more about the Keepers. Are they Indoctrinated and keeping the Citadel ready for their Reaper overlords? Maybe they're the Reapers and are just too cute to suspect? Anyway, I'd like a Garrus and Shepard cop-romp, too. It would be fab. Toodles!

I'd be alright with an additional ending or a better written version of the existing endings so long as its not done out of malice or work but actually has soul to it. Hell I'd start to forgive Nichelback if they came out and said, our bad that was crap, here's something to hopefully make up for it.

I'm sure we'll get an explanation way too late and there will be a lot of DLC that has nothing to do with the ending in the mean time.

Its such a difficult situation. In a way I'm more interested to find out what Bioware does now that they've nailed the lid on the franchise of Mass Effect.

@musim I do think collaborative efforts can be art--film and several TV shows have artistic merit. Shakespeare is someone who was able to change what he presented to audiences and still create high quality work, which is why I used him as an example. All of the changes were his decisions, but he just edited sections out of plays, sections that were written; he didn't create a new act because the audience wanted it. I just don't want BioWare to cave.

As for the quality of ME3, someone should have made sure the quality was there; a leader who could keep track of everything to make sure the entire story made sense, much like a director on a film.

I do hope BioWare gives us an explanation. I really don't want retcon DLC or DLC that gives us an ending. If they do give us DLC, then I think it should be free.

Thank you for reading and taking the time to comment.

Good article. There's a lot to be said on the subject. From the Dr's statement though it sounds like they're just going to add stuff to explain the ending more.

Also on the subject of art though, Shakespeare was one dude. Most art produced is written by one or two people and that includes you know books, literature, movies, music. Bioware probably has at bare minimum a dozen writers on Mass Effect 3. While I do believe games are an artistic experience, I do not believe they are conducive to artistic vision. No one can read minds and when you have an entire team of people trying to center in on multiple artistic visions, at some point it just turns into chaos and whatever metaphor or life commentary they were going for is gone.

I dunno, I just replayed up to the ending to check, and there's no white tree (just some regular-ass burnt trees like you've seen before) and the radio chatter is that "the whole squad was decimated", not wiped out, and Shepard is *not* wearing civvies - she's wearing totally fucked up N7 armor. It's like 2AM here and I have work in the morning, so I YouTubed Shepard surviving - and it didn't show what environment he's in - in fact you don't even see Shepard's face! I won't completely discount that Bioware had a metatextual (that it totally a word, Chrome!) interpretation for their ending, especially since they apparently change writers near the end or something, but there's really not that much direct incontrovertible evidence for it.

On the other hand, there are *plenty* of possible ways the Reapers could have been killed with this theory, if you're willing to fan-wank up from details we know: when Saren was killed the "mental backlash" disabled Sovereign's shields, allowing the fleet to blow it up - if we assume that 1) breaking indoctrination is equivalent to dying, 2) Harbinger is "assuming direct control" during this, and 3) that (for some reason) his being the "lead" Reaper means what affects him affects the other Reapers, you breaking indoctrination could have opened up the Reapers to defeat. Less of a reach, but less fun, is simply that Anderson did, in truth, make it and used the Crucible himself (leaving the question of what the heck was up with TIM, unfortunately).

Overall, though, I just think Bioware forgot how to write games (as opposed to characters) after Mass Effect - or KoTOR if you are of the opinion that everything after that was just another rehash of it. Mass Effect 2 in particular had an *awful* main plotline, and easily the worst ending (w/r/t the rest of the game) for any game I can think of - or has everyone already forgotten Space Terminator Baby made of Colonist Slushee?
