Nintendo Announces New Console

Several years ago, i thought the Wii was the worst name ever for a console, until today. Nintendo officially announced their new console and it’s called Wii U. The demonstration on stage focused mainly on the new controller, which is a hybrid of a regular controller and a touch screen tablet. To clear up a few misconceptions, the Wii U is an actual new console and we have provided a screenshot. The system will run in full 1080p HD, and the controller is NOT a portable device. You need to be in proximity of the console to receive data, so you can’t tote the remote around.

Third party developers are flocking to the system, as prototypes of many popular franchises were shown. You will be able to use the tablet portion of the controller to draw objects into the games, or switch from TV to the controller seamlessly. The Wii U will have an internet browser, and will be the first Nintendo home console to fully embrace modern day online technology. The system is set for release in 2012, sometime after March 31′st according to Nintendo. No pricing has been announced.
