Nintendo Set To Possibly Announce New Console
Rumors have been swirling today, that Nintendo will be announcing their next console either at or before E3. With a mere 53 days to go until the annual video game extravaganza that is the Electronic Entertainment Expo, Game Informer was the first to break the news, citing multiple reliable sources close to the story.
Nintendo is playing close to the vest, giving only their standard “Nintendo does not comment on rumor or speculation” line when pressed for comment. Rumours have been abound for several months, with the slowing of releases for the ageing Nintendo Wii. Sources say that the “Wii 2″ or “Wii HD” will be more powerful than the current Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, and will be backwards compatible with all previously released Wii software.
We will be keeping a close eye on this story as it develops, and hopefully Nintendo will be more forthcoming in the upcoming weeks leading up to E3 as this story snowballs to it’s ultimate conclusion. Earlier this week, Sony announced that it would breaking from it’s normal Tuesday Press Event routine and instead will be going on stage one day earlier, which is the same day that Microsoft traditionally kicks off their show. All signs are pointing to an exciting 2011 E3.
